Noisy repair works are banned on Sunday

The reconstruction or repair works accompanied by noise will be banned in apartment buildings on Sunday. These are now banned only between 6pm and 8am on weekdays. The new provisions are stipulated in a bill to amend the Contravention Code that was approve by the Government, IPN reports.

Minister of Justice Sergiu Litvinenco said these provisions are aimed at ensuring public order and the respect for the right to private life and at cultivating a spirit of mutual respect between neighbors of apartment buildings.

Another amendment proposed to the Contravention Code introduces punishment for begging accompanied by stimulation of a disability. This way, the persons who will simulate a physical or mental disability to beg will be fined 300 to 1,500 lei or will be given 20 to 60 hours of community service.

The bill also adjusts the legal provisions concerning the payment of half of the fine. The fine will be paid at half its size if the person pays it within three days of the day the decision to impose the fine is made known. Until now the period was of 72 hours.

The bill also introduces new penalties for the unauthorized storage on fertile land of building materials or extractive industry waste. The private individuals will be fined 4,000 to 7,500 lei, while legal entities – 5,000 to 15,000 lei.

The bill is to be submitted to Parliament for consideration and adoption.
