Three companies have applied for renovating the two fountains from the “Maria Biesu” National Opera and Ballet Theatre (NOBT) Square, stated Grigore Rotaru, technical director of the capital’s constructions Division, for Info-Prim Neo. The fountains’ water pumps are deteriorated. “In predominantly warm cities the pumps are not removed that often. We, however, removed the pumps during the cold season and then install them back in spring. Due to the installation-removal process the pumps break faster”, added Grigore Rotaru. The company that wins the tender will have to build a special underground chamber, with temperatures that will allow the pumps to overcome annual cold seasons. The external aspect of the fountains will also be changed. Design proposals are expected from the companies participating in the tender. The winner will be announced in 10 days.
