No redundancy pay for MPs and ministers

Freshly appointed PM Zinaida Greceanyi said the Government intends to leave MPs and ministers without the redundancy pays they are entitled to after the dissolution of Parliament and the old cabinet, Info-Prim Neo reports. The issue was initially brought before Parliament at its Wednesday's sitting by the Communist faction in a bid to cut budget expenses. This time the Opposition backed the initiative to suspend any compensation payments, given the financial hardship facing the country. MP Leonid Bujor of Moldova Noastra Alliance said his faction would endorse the motion, provided that “it's not electoral propaganda”. Lib-Dem MP Vitalie Nagacevschi suggested the saved money should go to a medical center looking after victims of torture, including those beaten during the April events. The motion is to be debated in Parliament at its next sitting on Friday.
