The 19th edition of the National Wine Day will take place this year on October 3 and 4, under the slogan: "Becoming a deVine holiday". Due to the pandemic crisis, no other public events will be organized in the capital's center, other than the official opening ceremony and the award ceremony for wine producers.
According to the National Office of Vine and Wine (ONVV) director, Gheorghe Arpentin, following the festive part of the event, organizers will urge customers to visit wineries, buy their favorite wine and celebrate Wine Day with loved ones. A webinar will be held for journalists who write about wine. Additionally, an exhibition of wine bottle labels will be organized in the center of the capital. Special shows will be broadcast on TV and online, dedicated to millennial winemaking traditions, while wineries from all over the country will prepare surprises for their guests.
The preparations for the 20th jubilee edition of Wine Day, which will take place in October next year, are starting today, said the ONVV director. Gheorghe Arpentin added that this year's modest grape harvest is not an issue. Thanks to large reserves, demand for wine will be met. Grape prices tend to increase due to the high demand for high quality grapes.
The Secretary of State of the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment, Mihail Machidon, said that Wine Day is a day dedicated to the enjoyment of wine and to the promotion of wine on foreign markets. The official said that he regrets that no mass events will take place in the capital; however, he is hopeful that wine popularization messages will spread during the holiday.
Ruxanda Lipcan, wine industry representative, said that Wine Day is an opportunity to interact with wine consumers and to identify their preferences. It is an opportunity to promote the winery and wines, to allow people to find out more about the craft. On the occasion, the wineries will offer wine sets at a bargain price. Certain supermarket chains will also reduce wine prices.
The organizers added that a contest for the development of the National Wine Day logo and corporate style will be launched during this year's Wine Day. The contest will last until spring 2021.
