The residents and guests of Chisinau this year will not be able to attend the traditional New Year’s Eve concert in the center of Chisinau. Though the local public authorities earlier said they could finance the organization of the concert that is usually staged by the Ministry of Culture, the Chisinau City Hall changed its mind. The information was confirmed for IPN by the head of the City Hall’s Public Relations Division Vadim Branzaniuc.

Contacted by IPN, the head of the Culture Division Lucia Culev said the Chisinau City Hall hasn’t yet paid remuneration to all the artists who performed at public events in December. As the local authorities do not have available financial resources, it was decided not to stage the New Year’s Eve concert.

The Ministry of Culture earlier announced that it is short of funds and will not organize the traditional concert. Another reason invoked by it is the fact that the Great National Assembly Square was occupied by protesters, who put up tents. .
