No more car-free zone on Stefan cel Mare Blvd
This Sunday the Municipality won't anymore close part of Stefan cel Mare Blvd to vehicle traffic to make it a pedestrian zone for the day. Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca has told Info-Prim Neo that another street has been proposed, but no agreement has been reached yet which exactly this street should be.
According to the Mayor, next week this issue will again be discussed to identify a solution.
Deputy Mayor Nistor Grozavu suggests that if the car-free zone project is to be continued, it should remain on Stefan cel Mare Blvd, as the Municipality is not yet ready to propose an alternative that is as popular as the central thoroughfare, and at the same doesn't restrict access to yards and commercial outlets.
From September and until next week, the Municipality piloted a car-free zone project on a segment of Stefan cel Mare, at first on Saturdays and Sundays, and then limiting it to Sundays only.
