The Chisinau authorities stopped issuing authorizations to companies operating casinos and gambling machines and will ask the Government to relocate such facilities outside the city, Info-Prim Neo reports. Vladimir Nirca, the head of the General Trade, Public Food and Services Division, said the decision will have both positive and negative effects. “The volume of collections into the municipal budgets will decrease as the gambling businesses paid taxes of 2,700 lei monthly. More than 8 million lei was collected yearly,” Nirca said. On the other hand, the games of chance have a negative impact on the children and leave the families without large sums of money.” There are 2,744 gambling machines, 185 rooms with gambling machines and 12 casinos in Chisinau at present.
