The victims of the February 11 passenger plane crash near Moscow, which killed all 71 people on board, do not include Moldovans. The information was confirmed for IPN by the head of the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova Alexandr Roitman.
The Embassy of Moldova in Moscow contacted the Russian authorities and the information that there were no Moldovans among the victims was confirmed today, February 12.
The Antonov An-148 aircraft that took off from Moscow Domodedovo Airport was carrying 65 passengers and six crew members. The passengers included three children. The crew of the Saratov Airlines flight to Orsk city didn’t report any problems before the plane crashed into snowy terrain. A technical glitch is yet among the examined versions.
The Moldovan authorities offered their condolences to the victims of the plane crash. “We learned about the plane tragedy near Moscow with deep sadness. We give our condolences to the families and friends of the victims… This is a painful proof that life cannot be fully planned…”, Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu wrote on his Facebook page. President Igor Dodon transmitted a message of condolence to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
