It is almost one year since the municipality announced a contest to establish a public - private partnership for repairing the ropeway going along Calea Iesilor St in Chisinau, but no company expressed interest in the proposal.

Contacted by IPN, the head of the Chisinau Electric Transport Company Gheorghe Morgoci said the ropeway may be restored if the Chisinau Municipal Council allocates money for repairing it from the municipal budget. The Chisinau Electric Transport Company or the Constructions Division can be entrusted with the supervision and technical service of the ropeway.

Gheorghe Morgoci considers that the ropeway is a recreational facility that can yield profit, but nobody expressed readiness to invest several million euros in its repair.

The ropeway started to be used in 1988. It ensured connection between the streets Calea Iesilor and Nicolae Costin. It worked until 1996.
