A direct confrontation between the Russian Federation and the United States of America cannot take place as it didn’t take place during the cold war, when the situation wasn’t less calm. But it is certain that the intimidations have intensified and deepened during the past month, Victor Juc, vice director of the Institute of Legal and Political Research of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, stated in the talk show “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel. Victor Juc referred to the escalation of the situation in Syria, IPN reports.
According to him, in the past the intimidation was based on economic, financial and commercial, diplomatic, sports and informational factors, not speaking about the bellicose rhetoric, but now the list of applied mechanisms includes chemical weapons that produce collateral effects with the use of conventional weapons.
Analyst Anatol Taranu said the relationship between the two powers can be described as a ‘war of nerves’, but concurrently Syria has been bleeding for many years and this does not favor international peace. “Given that the great nuclear powers of the world are involved in the war in Syria, such a conflict that seems auxiliary could in time turn into a very acute headache for the mankind,” he stated.
According to the analyst, the local crisis like the one in Syria could get out of the control of the big players at a certain moment and these could be unable to fully control the situation.
