No-confidence motion rejected

The Government led by Pavel Filip continues to work. The no-confidence motion proposed by the Socialist, Liberal-Democratic and Communist MPs wasn’t supported by Parliament. Thirty MPs voted in favor of the Government’s dismissal at a time when at least 51 votes were needed, IPN reports.

In his report delivered in Parliament, Pavel Filip reproached the signatories of the motion for the fact that the poor situation is due to the governments of the Liberal Democratic Party that ruled the country. The Premier said the country’s European course is the most important one and the current Government already unblocked the situation. Furthermore, a new agreement with the IMF is to be signed in October.

The leader of the Socialists Igor Dodon in his speech said that during another 25 years of independence, the people will remember namely the Premier who legalized the theft of the billion and put the burden of repaying the debts on the people. The current Government borrows by 1 billion lei a month for paying salaries and pensions and this is a financial bomb that will explode.

The Liberal-Democratic MP Iurie Tap said the people must ask themselves why they need a Government that actually does not promote their interests.

The leader of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu said the opposition is good at telling lies and at manipulating. Moldova, during 25 years of independence, didn’t take concrete steps because the people, being brought in the former Soviet Union, got used not to work, but to steal and to point the finger at the honest people. “The current opposition does namely this,” he stated.

The chairman of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu said the no-confidence motion has also positive aspects as the Premier, by his speech, showed that he is not conceited and that he came to this post to work.
