No candidate for presidency registered so far

No candidate filed the documents needed to be registered as presidential candidate since December 29 until January 5 in the morning. “Maybe somebody will come on Monday, January 9. Now the MPs are on vacation,” the head of the special commission for organizing the presidential elections, Liberal-Democrat MP Tudor Deliu has told Info-Prim Neo. According to the lawmakers, only telephone conversations with persons who wanted to run in the previous elections, but weren’t registered because they could not confirm that they are supported by at least 15MPs, had taken place. The deadline for applications is January 12, 7pm. Tudor Deliu does not exclude that no person will submit applications. The possible candidates for the presidency are expected at the special commission for organizing the presidential elections with the set of necessary documents, including the application supported by the signatures of at least 15 MPs, the personal consent to run in the elections, the medical certificate, the CV and the copy of the identity card. The applications can be filed between 2pm and 5pm. The applicants must be minimum 40, have lived in Moldova during the last ten years and know the official language. In the ordinary December 16 elections, the only candidate registered, Marian Lupu, did not poll the necessary number of votes. The leader of the PDM announced he will not run in the new elections of January 15.
