No person has so far applied for the post of prosecutor general within the contest announced on September 23. The deadline for applications is October 24, IPN reports.

“I’m confident that we will have candidates, as many as possible, by the closing date so that we have a pubic contest and are ultimately able to choose the best candidate who will be proposed for being invested as prosecutor general to the competent bodes,” head of the Superior Council of Prosecutors Mircea Rosioru stated in parliamentary hearings centering on the justice sector reform.

This February, Parliament accepted the resignation from the post of prosecutor general tendered by Corneliu Gurin. The post is held on an interim basis by Eduard Harunjen.
