NIT left without advertisements again
The private TV channel NIT will not be able to broadcast commercials during five days. The Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) decided to penalize the channel for being partial when covering the campaign preceding the November 28 early legislative elections, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The decision was taken after analyzing a monitoring report showing that NIT openly favors the Communists Party by the volume of airtime allotted to it, which exceeded 40% of the total volume of news programs in the monitored period, and by the biased content of the broadcast information.
Besides the proposal to ban advertisements on NIT, the BCC put to the vote the proposal to impose the highest fine for such a violation, but it did not gain the necessary number of votes.
Earlier, the Council warned the channel and then fined it 5,400 lei and banned it from airing commercials during three days.
In Friday's meeting, the BCC also warned the public TV channel Moldova 1 for not making a distinction between covering subjects concerning the activities carried out by the election contenders and the activities of the political players as senior state officials.
