NIT employees struggle to bring TV channel back into media area

The members of the NIT team have announced that they will continue to fight for the triumph of the law and for the return of the TV channel to the media area of Moldova. In a joint statement, the personnel of NIT say they will continue to struggle even if they are under the authorities’ pressure and are deprived of the right to work, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We thank those who condemn the actions that run counter to the democratic principles, the freedom of expression and defy the basic norms of the Constitution,” reads the statement. The employees say that they are supported by viewers, guild colleagues, representatives of civil society, nongovernmental organizations from Moldova and abroad and international organizations. “The fact that people with different views and political beliefs mobilized in support of NIT is very important. The company receives letters of support and requests to bring the TV channel back into the Moldovan broadcasting area. We hope that the civic position of our supporters will not be ignored and the law and justice will triumph over,” says the statement. NIT was deprived of license on April 5. The decision was taken by the votes of seven members of the Broadcasting Coordination Council. Only Corneliu Mihalache voted against the withdrawal of the license and left the meeting hall in protest. The decision was made based on a report on the monitoring of the newscasts of the NIT. According to Council member Nicolae Damaschin, the TV channel used different techniques to manipulate the people and openly favored one political party.
