Nistru war veterans throw support to Ukrainian fighters

After Moldovans who fight on the battlefield in Ukraine called on the citizens of the Republic of Moldova not to take part in the street protests staged by the Shor Party and other political forces, they launched a campaign to discredit the combatants in Ukraine,. To clarify things, a group of Nistru war veterans gave a news conference at IPN News Agency.

“We support our compatriots who fight for the independence of Ukraine and regret that a small group of former fighters support the ideology and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine,” said one of the veterans Valentin Țapeș.

As to the phenomenon of corruption, the speaker said that a large number of citizens of the Russian Federation take part in the guiding of the Communist, Socialist parties and prepare their program of activities and this is interference in Moldova’s internal affairs. Only one employee of the Embassy of Russia was expelled, out of 1,200.

“It is evident that all those who support the Russian fascist regime continue to do what they have done during 30 years. Some of the leaders of these fled the county for fear of not being jailed. By order, they exploit the difficulties so as to generate chaos and disorder at the hands of wild people and also of young people who are in the pay of someone. I hope the responsible bodies will take the required measures,” stated Valeentin Țapeș.

He urged to institute a dialogue with the Ukrainian authorities so as to settle the Transnistrian conflict. “The time is now opportune. Only this way we will be able to control the Transnistrian segment of the border,” said the veteran, noting that economic crimes are committed there continuously.

Arslan Safarmatov spoke in the name of the Moldovan legionnaires in Ukraine. “I came because I want those former officials who do not know the difference between soldier and mercenary to see me. I advise them to consult the Penal Code of the Republic of Moldova, the articles “theft”, “appropriation”, “unjust enrichment” and some other 20 articles concerning them. They should also look at Article 141 on mercenaries. I’m not a mercenary. I’m a soldier of the Ukrainian army,” he stated.

Referring to the calls to remove the current government and replace it with pro-Russian forces made by protesters last Sunday, the soldier of the Ukrainian armed forces said: “Look what’s going on in Ukraine – destruction, killings, rapes. We can also experience something like this... I cannot understand those who fought against the Russian army in 1992 and now support the Russian aggression. Do they do this for sausages?”

The speaker noted that the Nistru war veterans will not allow persons in conflict with the law to make hazardous calls to replace the current government.
