Nistru war veterans resume protesting in support of their disabled comrades
Refugees from Transnistria and veterans of the 1992 Nistru war picketed the Parliament on Thursday protesting against the lack of attitude of the authorities. The protesters accuse the Communist Governance of not meeting their rights guaranteed by law, Info-Prim Neo reports.
”Today's veteran, dying of hunger and cold, does not need the memorials and monuments build through the propaganda of present President Vladimir Voronin,” stated the president of the war veterans association “Tiras-Tighina”, Anatol Caraman.
He says the veterans try, unsuccessfully, to get the authorities' help to buy prostheses for two war disabled, as they cannot buy the prostheses from their pensions.
“Two hypocrites, an Oatu from the Rehabilitation Center (Vasile Oatu, chief manager of the Rehabilitation Center — e.n.) and the chairman of the Chisinau Municipal Center (Eduard Musuc – e.d.), dare to go on television and say the Center can make very good prostheses, but actually it launders money,” Caraman says. “The disabled Pavel Berzan has his legs amputated twice after using prostheses made by famous Oatu.”
The veterans and the refugees say they protest also because of their small pensions and the delay in building an apartments block in Chisinau.
The war veterans menace they will sue the Chisinau Council for not allocating 40,000 euros to buy prostheses for two of their disabled comrades.
There are 269 disabled from the war in Afghanistan and 243 invalids from the 1992 military conflict with the Tiraspol regime.
