Nistru war veterans forward new claims to authorities

The Nistru War Veterans will forward to claims to the authorities, Info-Prim Neo reports. The president of the National Union of the Independence War Veterans, Eduard Maican, has told a sitting of the national council of the organization they will submit new claims to the authorities. Amongst them: specifying the status of the veterans, substituting the ID cards of a participant in the conflict by IDs of war veterans, establishing the status of a war widow, a special medal and low-interests loans. “The veterans of the Nistru war are discriminated by the fact that they do not get compensations was the veterans of World War II and of the Afghanistan war. If they are offered 50% of the compensation amount, than Nistru war veterans get but 25% of this amount,” Eduard Maican explains. He also says the veterans need treatment and social rehabilitation. „Only in Cocieri village, Dubasari district, over 100 war veterans aged 35-40 have died since 1992, what speaks for the fact that the war syndrome has negative consequences up to now,” he says. The number of the veterans of the Nistru war in 1992 will be recounted. The idea was put up by the non-governmental organization defending the interests of the former fighters. According to statistics, there are some 29,500 thousand Nistru war veterans in Moldova.
