Deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu will hold the post of Mayor General of Chisinau municipality on an interim basis, until the local elections. The announcement was made on May 3 by Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca, who will run for a new tenure in the June 5 elections, Info-Prim Neo reports. Dorin Chirtoaca said that he will submit the necessary documents to the Chisinau District Electoral Council on May 5 at the latest. Nistor Grozavu was proposed for deputy mayor by the Liberal Party, of which Dorin Chirtoaca is a member. In the local elections of 2007, the Liberal Party obtained 22 seats on district and municipal councils, 163 seats on town and village councils, while 13 candidates of the party were elected as mayors in different settlements.
