The former deputy mayor of the capital, Nistor Grozavu, is investigated by prosecutors in a case related to the alienation of land lots belonging to the Chișinău City Hall. The information was communicated to IPN by Emil Gaitur, the spokesman of the General Prosecutor's Office.
"At this stage, criminal investigation is carried out in regard to Nistor Grozavu. The investigation involves other persons. Depending on the results of the criminal investigation, it will be decided whether or not to apply preventive actions”, said Emil Gaitur.
The criminal investigation takes place in relation to the information released by the General Prosecutor's Office on September 9. On that date, the Prosecutor's Office announced that it is conducting 21 searches and starting three criminal cases regarding the establishment of a criminal scheme for illegal alienation of land for construction purposes, via lease agreements.
Nistor Grozavu was dismissed from office by the Chișinău City Council in July.
