Nine persons killed in this year's fires

The 59 fires that happened in Moldova during the first ten days of the year claimed nine deaths. Dorina Cruc, a press officer with the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that most of the fires are blamed on lit cigarettes. One of such a fires killed a Chisinau inhabitant aged 24. The oldest victim was a 87-year-old man from Izbiste village of Criuleni district. The body of the man was found in his bed on January 3. A resident of Corbu village of Donduseni district aged 78 died from carbon monoxide poisoning on January 9. The fires also caused the death of a 71 year old man from Mateuti village of Rezina district and of a 46-year-old resident of Hajdieni village of Glodeni district. The incorrect use of a stove resulted in a fire that killed a man aged 83 residing in Dumbraveni village of Soroca district. An 84-year-old woman from Cunicea village of Floresti district died after inhaling fumes emitted by her faulty stove. A short circuit caused the death of a 65-year-old guard of a Chisinau company.
