Nine persons, five of whom were children, were evacuated last night from a three-story apartment building situated in Causeni town after dense smoke spread on the stair.

Preliminarily, it was established that the fire started in a first-floor apartment. A number of old things burned there. The circumstances of the fire are not yet known.

Press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies Liliana Puscasu has told IPN that the fire started after midnight. When on the spot, the firemen evacuated the dwellers to a safe place. A child of several months was transported to the district hospital for examinations.

The fire was put out.
