Nine localities in Moldova will receive grants to implement economic projects and start new businesses. The communities will get by US$ 25,000 from the Government of Switzerland and from the contribution of the local authorities, associations of native people and local business entities, IPN reports, with reference to a press release of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Moldova.
According to the manager of the project “Migration and Local Development” Olesea Cazacu, the communities have fewer chances of developing without a viable economic environment. UNDP provides a new approach to the development of the local business community, namely improvement of infrastructure, bringing together of producers from a particular area, creation of local brands, etc. for making the settlements more attractive for current entrepreneurs and potential investors.
To promote the local tourist potential, the Chiscareni mayor’s office, in partnership with households, will set up a network of pensions, a tourist point at the mayor’s office and will introduce particular local tourist attractions in the national tourist route.
To perpetuate the traditional national costume and to ensure jobs for local women, a house to produce authentic national costumes will be opened in Pelinia. In Cosnita, the center of the village will be arranged by setting up a farmers’ market and a recreational area for children and youth. In Telenesti, there will be opened a clothing factory. In Dubasarii Vechi village, tomato growers will unite and will build a ramp for optimizing efforts and costs for selling tomatoes.
In the center of Ungheni town, the infrastructure will be modernized for developing the business environment in the municipality. A multifunctional community center will be created in Cioresti commune to provide eatery-catering and social laundry services. In Vorniceni, there will be founded the first multifunctional agricultural commercial center. A recently built modern center in Selemet will be appropriately outfitted.
The nine projects will be implemented during the net next six months.
