Nicu Popescu discusses prospects of more intense cooperation in energy sector in Baku

The prospects of more intense cooperation in the energy sector and possibilities of increasing the number of tourists and of joint projects in agriculture were discussed in a meeting of Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, and the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in Baku, IPN reports.

“We ascertained that since diplomatic relations were established 30 years ago, our countries have had excellent political relations and supported each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within the internationally recognized borders and cooperated in a coordinated way under regional and multilateral frameworks,” stated Nicu Popescu, being quoted in a press release.

The interlocutors conferred on the possibilities of developing and extending the existing cooperation relations and of expanding interactions in new areas of cooperation, with emphasis on economic cooperation and attraction of investment. The moving of the political dialogue to a higher level was another discussed subject.

The Moldovan official transmitted President Maia Sandu’s invitation to visit the Republic of Moldova to Ilham Aliyev. The last meeting of the two heads of state was held last December in Brussels, on the sidelines of the Eastern Partnership Summit.
