“We want more trade, more investment and more tourists. We agreed to set up an Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation and support the initiative of organizing a Business Forum, including with the support of the two Moldovan honorary consulates working in Zagreb and Varazdin,” said Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu after meeting with his Croatian counterpart Gordan Grlić Radman, who visited Moldova today.
“We will move forward at a rapid pace to sign a bilateral agreement aimed at reducing roaming charges for the benefit of both countries, especially tourists and business people,” said Nicu Popescu.
As for the next meeting of the Moldovan-Croatian Intergovernmental Commission for European Integration, it will be held this year in Zagreb, with Nicu Popescu awaiting “concrete results in borrowing good practice as to the harmonization of legislation and strengthening institutional capacity”. The official expressed gratitude for Croatia’s continued support for Moldova’s European agenda, as well as for the attention paid to strengthening the dialogue between the European Union and the Eastern Partnership states.
“This has been felt by the citizens during the ongoing energy and pandemic crises. The situation remains difficult in our country, but without European support, including from Croatia, the negative impact of both the energy crisis and the pandemic crisis would have been much more serious”, Nicu Popescu underlined.
In addition to the 18 bilateral agreements existing today, it has been agreed to finalize negotiations on a new agreement between Moldova and Croatia, this time in the field of education, science and innovation.
