The mayor of Bălți Nicolai Grigorișin said that two listening devices were found in his office during ordinary cleaning. “If you want to scare me or make me kneel down, you will not succeed. I will find out who illegally installed these devices and the whole country will know their names. I think I did and do everything right, but it seems that someone does not agree with this,” Nicolai Grigorișin posted on his Facebook page.
The mayor noted that it is not for the first time that he faces such problems, saying this is deja vu”. “Did the regime of Plahotniuc return?!” he asked rhetorically, referring to the period during which he had a similar experience.
Contacted by IPN for a comment, spokeswoman for the Prosecutor General’s Office Mariana Cherpec said that the mayor of Bălți hasn’t notified the Bălți Prosecutor’s Office or the Police Inspectorate of the bugs he allegedly found in his office. However, the chief prosecutor of the municipality of Bălți ordered to verify the information.
Mariana Cherpec noted the mayor should have first notified the Prosecutor’s Office and should have later made such assertions as he revealed the commission of an alleged offense.
As to the bugs that were reportedly found in the office of the director of the National Anticorruption Center, Mariana Cherpec said the filed complaint is being examined by the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office and details will be provided when progress in the investigation is made.
