President Nicolae Timofti will insist that the bill on the rise in the salaries of judges be voted in Parliament. He told the press that this matter should be dealt with as soon as possible so as to root out corruption from the legal system and expressed his conviction that the necessary financial resources will be identified, IPN reports.

The President confirmed that there is now a discrepancy between the salaries of judges and of court functionaries, the latter having higher pays. He proposed that the judges should be paid 10,000 to 17,000 lei.

The Supreme Council of Magistrates also requested Parliament to debate the given bill without delay.
