Moldova’s President Nicolae Timofti signed the National Responsibility Pact for a European Moldova. The document calls on the whole society to unite with a view to achieving Moldova’s strategic objective of joining the European Union, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the presidential press service.
“I signed the pact with the firm conviction that the European integration process does not have an alternative. It offers a clear prospect for the country’s development and modernization. The Vilnius Eastern Partnership Summit represents a historical chance that will determine Moldova’s future. I salute the maturity of the representatives of the political class and civil society who signed this agreement and pledged to support the European transformation reforms in Moldova,” said Nicolae Timofti.
The National Responsibility Pact for a European Moldova was presented by the Liberal Democratic Party on November 18. The other two parties of the Pro-European Coalition – the Democratic Party and the Party of Liberal Reformers –subscribed to it. Former Presidents of Moldova Mircea Snegur and Petru Lucinschi also signed it.
