Nicolae Timofti says all candidates have chances to be elected Premier

President Nicolae Timofti said that there are equal chances for all the candidates for the post of Prime Minister. In a TV program, the head of state said that the consultations to discuss possible candidates will be finished in about two weeks and he will then put forward a candidate, IPN reports.

Nicolae Timofti stated the Constitution provides that the head of state must obligatorily consult the parliamentary groups before designating a candidate for premiership. “I project to finish these consultations in about two weeks. After that, I will take a decision,” said the President, adding that he now can say nothing about the possible candidate.

The heads of state expressed his confidence that a candidate for the post of Premier will be identified. “There are suitable candidates and all of them have equal chances to be elected. I said this earlier and reassert it now,” said Nicolae Timofti.

In the March 5 sitting, Parliament passed a censure motion against the Filat Government by 54 votes in favor. Afterward, Prime Minister Vlad Filat tendered the Cabinet’s resignation and the head of state initiated consultations with the parliamentary factions to identify a candidate for premiership.
