Nicolae Timofti: Regardless of calendar, Christmas is a feast of soul

Faith, love and hope are Christian values that give meaning to life and force to follow the path to salvation. Regardless of the calendar, Christmas is a feast of the soul, it is said in a message delivered by President Nicolae Timofti on the eve of December 25, IPN reports.

“Recently, Parliament legalized the celebration of Christmas both according to the new style, on December 25, and according to the old style, on January 7. The lawmakers adopted a wise decision, in the spirit of democracy, tolerance and freedom of faith. Regardless of the calendar, Christmas is a feast of the soul, which we will mark together with the large family of European peoples, of which we form part,” says the message.

“We will celebrate Nativity with faith and hope. Let this feast open our souls so that we help those in need and thank those who deserve gratitude, keep hope for a better future and have power to fulfill our aspirations.”

Nicolae Timofti called on everyone to take a break and ponder over the spiritual significance of the birth of Jesus Christ.
