Nicolae Timofti: Poland is an example of economy reformation
Poland is an example of reformation of economy in the process of joining the European Union, meeting the European standards, Moldova’s President Nicolae Timofti said in the forum of Moldovan-Polish businessmen that was held within Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski’s visit to Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“Poland is currently the largest importer of Moldovan wines among the EU member states. I want to assure the Polish businessmen that the Moldovan authorities will provide all the necessary explanations as regards the possibilities of investing in the country’s economy,” stated Nicolae Timofti.
Bronislaw Komorowski said that Poland supports Moldova in its European integration efforts and approves of the reforms promoted by Moldova. According to him, the Polish businesses feared they will not be able to sell their products after Poland joined the European Union, but the Polish agricultural products sell well in the EU. The same will happen to the Moldovan producers if they continue the initiated reforms and modernize the economy so as to increase the exported products’ competitiveness.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar invited the Polish businessmen to invest in industrial parks and free economic zones and to take part in the privatization process as they can acquire assets and develop profitable businesses. He told the potential investors that the business rules in Moldova are the same as in Poland.
The forum of Moldovan-Polish businessmen brought together representatives of 18 Polish companies and 100 Moldovan companies.
Trade between Moldova and Poland in the first nine months of this year totaled €60 million.
