Nicolae Timofti meets with new U.S. Ambassador

President Nicolae Timofti has received the credentials of the U.S. Ambassador to Moldova James D. Pettit, IPN has learned from the presidential press service.

The head of state expressed his satisfaction with the intensification and deepening of the Moldovan-American relations in 2014 following the bilateral high-ranking visits and the launch of the Moldova – U.S. Strategic Dialogue that is a foreign policy priority of Moldova. He thanked the U.S. Government for the constant and consistent assistance provided to the Moldovan authorities in strengthening the democratic institutions and modernizing infrastructure.

Nicolae Timofti said he is convinced that Parliament will soon vote in the new Government that will continue Moldova’s European course.

James D. Pettit stated that his country reasserts its firm commitment to promote the democratic values in Moldova and supports the Moldovan authorities in their European integration efforts.

Nicolae Timofti and James D. Pettit discussed common projects from the bilateral agenda and the worsening of regional security following the developments in Ukraine.
