President Nicolae Timofti had a meeting with the former Presidents of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk and Viktor Yushchenko and the ex-Presidents of Moldova Mircea Snegur and Petru Lucinschi. The officials discussed the necessity of synchronizing the actions of the two states given the new threats to national and regional security, IPN reports.
According to the presidential press service, the discussions covered the crisis in eastern Ukraine and the frozen conflict in Transnistria, which have common elements in their manifestations.
Leonid Kravchuk and Viktor Yushchenko spoke about the challenges and price paid by Ukraine for freedom and for its pro-Western choice. They noted that only the continuation of the road to the EU by Moldova and Ukraine can ensure the stability and sustainable socioeconomic development of the two states.
“I agreed with the former heads of state to identify the solutions needed for our countries to come closer and to cooperate on the path of European integration,” stated President Nicolae Timofti.
