The AEI’s candidate for the presidency Nicolae Timofti said that if he is elected President of Moldova he will become involved in solving all the problems faced by the country. “You will have a sincere and reliable partner. I will try to be a good mediator and will direct all the energy to create a normal climate in the branches of power,” Nicolae Timofti said in his speech in Parliament before the voting, Info-Prim Neo reports. ”The law should rule in this country. I never became involved in politics and will probably not do it. My country must have a President. One of the most important intuitions is paralyzed. Everybody is now concerned about the non-election of the head of state,” said Nicolae Timofti. According to the candidate, Moldova must now decide what path it will follow – to confrontation, instability and chaos or to prosperity, development and stability. “Moldova faces social and economic problems. They can be solved if the European integration reforms are continued. Only this way will we have a modern state with high living standards,” stated Nicolae Timofti. He also said that society continues to be divided according to ethnical and political criteria and the European integration continues to be a project of the government rather than a national project. According to Nicolae Timofti, Moldova is surrounded by friends and this gives advantages. It should strengthen the friendship relations with Ukraine, Romania, Russia and Germany and use its geographic position to obtain as many benefits as possible. Nicolae Timofti said that effort was made to reintegrate the country, but Moldova is still divided. “The Transnistrian conflict can be settled exclusively by peaceful ways, with the help of the partners. As President, I will support all the actions aimed at strengthening the confidence between the two banks of the Nistru River,” said Nicolae Timofti. To be voted in Nicolae Timofti needs to poll at least 61 votes.
