The new President of Moldova Nicolae Timofti intends to be a good mediator between the power and the opposition. “I’m firmly convinced that the opposition must have guaranteed rights and the possibility of efficiently promoting voters’ interests,” Nicolae Timofti stated in Parliament, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. “Even for a person who is out of politics as I, it is absolutely clear that the relations between the power and the opposition are in a state of advanced hostility that goes beyond the democratic principles. One of the first initiatives I will put forward will be designed to improve the legal framework regulating the work of the opposition. It is a necessary document that will fill the gap existing in the Moldovan legislation,” said Nicolae Timofti. He also said that the document will define the status of the opposition. “I aim to be the President of all the Moldovan people, regardless of their political and religious opinions, ethnicity, culture and language. I’m convinced that our country needs such a President who would ensure national conciliation, the strengthening of society and stabilization of the internal political situation. My goals are ambitious, but I know that they are achievable. I count on your support. I’m sure that everyone wants to live in a country that develops harmoniously, in stable conditions,” stated Nicolae Timofti. He expressed his conviction that the situation in Moldova during the next few years will change significantly. The coming of new investors will stimulate the economic development and there will be created new well-paid workplaces. The Moldovans working abroad will return home in order to contribute to the country’s development. The living standards in rural areas will be considerably improved and Moldova will become a country of happy people and everyone will be proud of living here.
