President Nicolae Timofti put forward Vlad Filat for the post of Prime Minister. Under the Constitution, the Premier designate has 15 days at his disposal to present the new Government’s work program and the members of the Cabinet that are to gain the Parliament’s vote of confidence, IPN reports.
In a press briefing, the head of state said that as a result of the consultations he held with the leaders of the former AEI, he decided to propose one candidate for premiership. The group of MPs who took part in the discussions agreed that the PLDM has the right to field a candidate for the post of Premier.
The Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu reiterated that he will not vote for Vlad Filat as Prime Minister. Asked to comment on this, the head of state said it is the prerogative of the legislative body not of a parliamentary group consisting of 12 members to decide whether to give a vote of confidence or not to the new Cabinet.
