The publisher Nicolae Negru said that, overall, the Socialist Party is considered the main winner of the election, followed by the ACUM bloc, which ranked second. According to him, the Democratic Party obtained a surprising result, even though the party was predicted to crumble. This probably happened because PDM members are appreciated by voters.
In the TVR Moldova program "Punctul pe azi", the publisher said that Dorin Chirtoacă's result of over 10% was also surprising, because the polls did not foresee this. "We must finally analyze in depth what processes have taken place, why voter turnout was low and what will continue to happen on the political scene", said Nicolae Negru.
The leader of the Liberal Party, Dorin Chirtoacă, said that he is not satisfied with his election result. According to the Liberal, who ran for his fourth term, voter fatigue is most likely the reason for his low result. Additionally, Chirtoacă said that he started his campaign while being investigated in 2 cases which were commenced by the previous government. The PL leader said that this might have hindered his chances of becoming mayor.
The PL candidate said that the result of the first round of elections do not please him, because neither Andrei Năstase nor Ion Ceban will make people happy. "We are not unconscious. We made it clear that we will oppose Ceban, the Socialists and Dodon in the second round. They must be removed from power as Vladimir Plahotniuc was removed", said Chirtoacă.
The Democratic Party MP, Vladimir Cebotari, said that the PDM hopes that 40-50% of its candidates who proceeded in the second round of elections will win. The MP added that the PDM was the biggest winner of these elections, because 190 candidates running on its behalf won the elections in the first round. Asked about the Chișinău election results, Vladimir Cebotari said that even though he has accumulated a small share of the votes, his score is higher than PDM's score in previous local elections.
In the first round of the Chișinău local elections that took place on October 20, the PL candidate, Dorin Chirtoacă, obtained 10.15% of the votes, while the PDM candidate, Vladimir Cebotari, got 2.44%. The Socialist candidate, Ion Ceban, and the ACUM bloc candidate, Andrei Năstase, will compete in the second round.
