The Republic of Moldova is interested in having good relations with Turkey, but the context in which the visit by the Turkish President is paid generates particular questions, editorialist Nicolae Negru was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel.
The journalist said it is not clear why Turkey provided money for repairing the Presidential Building and what Moldova should pay for this. “If this extradition or deportation of the Turkish citizens hadn’t existed, we would have said it is an altruistic gesture and the Turks are generous. Here we can also add the Chisinau Arena that is built with the assistance of the Turks and the luxurious vacations for the President of the Republic of Moldova in Turkey and for the SIS director exactly in the period when these teachers were deported. These moments surely generate particular suspicions about this visit,” stated Nicolae Negru, adding any relationship between states is good up to a particular limit.
The vice president of the Liberal Party Valeriu Munteanu said there is no bilateral relationship between the Republic of Moldova and Turley. There is a triumvirate – the Moscow-Ankara-Chisinau axis. This relationship is developed with the participation of three players – Vladimir Plahotniuc, Igor Dodon and Recep Tayyip Erdogan. “Everything that was done, including the presents made to the Republic of Moldova, was done with the Government’s involvement,” stated the politician, noting the deportation of the seven Turkish citizens was the payment made for these presents.
Socialist MP Grigore Novac said Turkey has invested hundreds of millions of dollars in different projects in Moldova since our country declared its independence. According to him, more common points in the reciprocal trade with Turkey should be identified.
