Nicolae Chitoroagă resigns as chief of Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases

Nicolae Chitoroagă vacated the post of chief of the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases. The information was confirmed for IPN by Nicolae Chitoroagă, who said that his resignation will take effect on June 28.

“The causes for the resignation are related to the pressure that has been exerted on me and on the institution I head during the past few days. For the pressure to stop and for the employees of the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases to be able to work normally, I decided to quit,” stated Nicolae Chitoroagă.

He didn’t want to say where the pressure comes from, but noted that he hasn’t yet take a decision as to his professional future.

Nicolae Chitoroagă was named head of the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases in August 2017 for a five-year term.
