Nicolae Bondarev has won a bronze medal at the World Karate Championships held in the German city Bremen, where Moldova was represented by three athletes, IPN reports.
For the first time this championship involved athletes with disabilities. Nicolae Bodarev competed in the category of athletes with sight impairments and finished third, being the first Moldovan who medaled at the WKF World Seniors Championships.
The competition in Bremen brought together 934 athletes from 116 countries. Moldova’s squad was headed by the president of the Moldovan Karate Federation Oleg Abalin and the national team’s coach Vladimir Moiseev.
