“The Republic of Moldova is on the edge of a precipice and the money, not the law rules in our country,” said the leader of the Party of Law and Justice (PLD) Nicolae Alexei. In a news conference at IPN, the chairman of the PLD stated that competent and upright persons are needed to remove the corrupt political system and to restore the normal social and economic life in the country.
“For the country to function and to have an advanced economy and sustainable industry, it must be able to attract foreign investors. The investors want political stability and safe and guaranteed legal conditions to exist in the country so that the law rules. Furthermore, the state must protect the people’s health and lives,” said Nicolae Alexei.
He also said that if the parties continue to be financed by businessmen, there will be no order and justice in Moldova. “We must change the system and follow democratic principles. Honest specialists must be named to posts. In an institution, if the manager is honest and wants things to be brought in order, corruption should be first fought as this scourge transformed Moldova in a poor state,” said the leader of the PLD, noting that corruption favored also the capturing of the law enforcement bodies.
According to Nicolae Alexei, corruption can be combated and the country can be developed by allowing the people to elect the head of state and by naming an honest, upright and wise person as a Prime Minister who will form a Cabinet based on a contest. “A competent Government will bring things in order in the country,” he stated.
In the news conference, a group of young people who studied and worked in Western countries announced that they decided to join the Party of Law and Justice in order to help improve the economic situation in the country and to offer a viable political alternative. According to them, Moldova needs another generation of politicians, who would appreciate the European values and would be familiar with modern state development and functioning models.
