NIA orders to confiscate property worth about 3m lei from judge

A judge risks remaining without property to the value of about 3 million lei after the National Integrity Authority completed the property examination procedure in relation to this judge of the Chisinau City Court, ascertaining the largest difference in the property statement so far. Also, the Prosecutor General’s Office was notified of the identified criminal aspects so that it takes legal action over introduction of false data in statements, IPN reports.

The integrity inspector determined a substantial difference of approximately 3 million lei, which exceeds the highest legal limit 23.7 times, which is 20 monthly official salaries, for 2018, when the judge bought real estate and securities in Chisinau to the total value of over 3 million lei, including two nonresidential areas, a house and a BMW X5 car.

Also, the judge didn’t declare incomes of about 1.2 million lei earned in 2018 and included false and erroneous data about money awards of nearly 2.4 million lei and savings of approximately €113,000.  The Prosecutor General’s Office was informed about these violations so that it institutes criminal proceedings.
