NGOs from Romania, Moldova and Ukraine to increase capacity of involvement in participative democracy
In the municipality of Timisoara took place during September 20-22, the official launching of the “Active involvement of NGOs in participative democracy” project. The project is financed by the East East program: Partnership beyond borders”, Soros Foundation (Romabia, Moldova and Ukraine).
The partners of the project are three NGOs from Romania, Moldova and Ukraine: Euroregional Center for Democracy (Timisoara), Conflict Settlement Institute INRECO (Chisinau) and the Regional Agency for cross-border cooperation of euroregion “Low Danube” (Reni).
The project will be implemented in the period during February 2006 – 2007 and aims at identifying and analyzing the activity of NGOs involved in the local decision-making process from Chisinau; increasing their cooperation capacity in different coalitions; developing abilities and the participation level in organizing an advocacy campaign by NGOs.
The launching of the “Active involvement of NGOs in participative democracy” project took place at the headquarters of the Euroregional Center for Democracy (Timisoara) within the frameworks of a beforehand meeting of those three partner organizations.
During the visit to Timisoara the institutional capacity of the partner organizations was evaluated, the communication ways and conventions between partners was settled, the list of tasks for each stage of the project was identified etc.
The project will end through the implementation of two advocacy campaigns (Chisinau and Reni). The best one will be awarded at a ceremony which will take in Chisinau in March 2007.
The Conflict Settlement Institute INRECO aims at contributing to social-economic development of the Republic of Moldova in light of territorial reunification and European integration by implementing development programs of human resources and settling conflict situations.
