Representatives of civil society insist on withdrawing the Medical Encyclopedia of the Family from school libraries as it promotes sexual debauchery and homosexuality, Info-Prim Neo reports. Ghenadie Valuta, leader of the religious organization “Pro Ortodoxia”, presented to the media the book and the topics about which they are concerned most of all. He said that by such themes as “orgasm in women”, “homosexuality”, and “use of condoms” they promote sexual propaganda and try to pervert the young generation. Nina Dimoglo, head of the Youth Movement “Ileri”, said that not all the young people in Moldova have books from which to learn the official language, while the government promotes sexual propaganda books by libraries. She stressed that the country needs another kind of books. Dmitrii Chiseev, chairman of the Association “Government of the Young People in Gagauzia”, said the recently adopted legislation on elimination of discrimination does nothing but promote sexual minorities and their interests. Alexandru Parlog, jurist of the Association “For Christian Education”, said that by providing the school libraries with such books, the national legislation that bans any kind of propaganda is violated. The legislation provides that the parents are those who decide how to educate their children on the intimate life, while the state violates thus their rights. Nicolae Pascaru, chairman of the Youth Movement “Voievod”, said the Moldovan government either cannot negotiate with the Europeans or is interested in promoting homosexuality. It is said that Ukraine, which applies for EU membership as Moldova, adopted a law that institutes jail terms for dissemination of sexual propaganda. The representatives of the organizations asked withdrawing the mentioned book from school libraries and creating a commission consisting of representatives of the church, civil society and the Government for assessing the content of this encyclopedia. They say the information about the sexual life is necessary, but must be presented correctly.
