A number of nongovernmental and religious organizations Wednesday staged an event at different intersections in Chisinau in order to raise awareness of the rights of the babies who have not been yet born. The protesters demanded that the authorities ban abortion. “We consider that abortion represents premeditated murder and call on the authorities to abolish the legislation that allows abortion in Moldova,” deputy head of the Alliance for Saving Families of Moldova Vitalie Marian has told Info-Prim Neo. After protesting at intersections on Stefan cel Mare Blvd., the participants marched to the Metropolitan Cathedral, where they lit candles in memory of the children aborted after 1992. “The number of children aborted since 1992 is larger than the number of newborns. As many as 1.2 million children were born between 1992 and 2011, while the abortions totaled over 1.5 million,” said Vitalie Marian.
