A number of NGOs warn that the candidate for premiership Pavel Filip avoids signing the integrity statement in the variant proposed by civil society and suggests his own model that represents a promise rather than an authentic statement, IPN reports.
In a declaration, a number of NGOs condemn such an approach and describe the text proposed by the jurists of Pavel Filip as an attempt to avoid signing the integrity statement that represents a confirmation on own responsibility of the integrity of the persons with public posts and assumption of responsibility, if these deviate from the criteria defined in the statement. “We are disappointed by such an inappropriate approach and treatment of the initiatives of civil society on the part of the politicians, who promise one thing, but do another one,” reads the statement.
The NGO underline that the signing of a statement in the variant proposed by the jurists of the candidate for premiership is equal to the non-signing of the integrity statement and shows that the future Cabinet does not treat the demands of civil society in a serious way and does not assume responsibility for what happened until now in Moldova.
The organizations insist that the new Government should sign the integrity statement drawn up by civil society before being voted in, as candidate Pavel Filip promised publicly. Filip should also not accept candidates for minister who do not meet the criteria stipulated in the integrity statement of civil society or those who refuse to sign it.
Among the signatories of the declaration are the Resource Center “DIALOG-Pro”, the Foreign Policy Association, the Association of Independent Press, the Women’s Political Club 50/50, East Europe Foundation, Amnesty International Moldova, the Legal Resources Center of Moldova, “Promo-LEX” Association, Transparency International Moldova, and the Independent Journalism Center.
