Representatives of some NGOs, churches and natural entities, joining a so-called Coalition for the Defense of Family and Morality (CDFM) from Moldova, urge the authorities to oust the notion “sexual orientation” from the draft Law on counteracting discrimination, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The Moldovan legislation in force and the Constitution do not discriminate the representatives of sexual minorities in any way and do not intervene in their intimate life. That is why the term “sexual orientation” must not be introduced in the draft Law on counteracting discrimination,” CDFM representatives told a news conference on Friday. Vasile Filat, a priest of the Evangelical Church “Holy Trinity” from Chisinau, says this term being introduced in the law will directly attack the institute of the family and will openly promote immorality in the Moldovan society. “The experience other states in this respect should make us think. Now, the family institute is collapsing in Europe. We urge the state bodies to take an adequate stance in this respect,” Vasile Filat said. According to him, if passing the new law, the state will light green for sexual minorities to protrude into educational entities, thus being very close to children and having the opportunity to influence, manipulate or even recruit them to involve them in practicing sexual relationships with the same gender. “We have concrete proofs and cases when representatives of Gender-Doc-M went through Moldovan villages and unfolded so-called “awareness-raising campaigns” about homosexuality, thus influencing youths without a well-established set of values,” Vasile Filat said. Vitalie Marian, a CDFM member, says by introducing the notion of “sexual orientation” into the Law, the state does not protect children any longer and contributes to the destruction of the family. “I do not want my daughter, when she goes to school, have a teacher representing sexual minorities. Children must grow in a healthy environment,” said Tudor Poiata, a father of three. In the speakers' opinion, the sexual minorities and especially the organization Gender Doc-M discriminate family, do not observe the Moldovan law, destroying the Christian values of the Moldovan society. They say the sexual diversity is not a genetic disease, but a whim of the sexual minorities. Vasile Filat says their CDFM has gathered 2,500 signatures from Chisinau residents in a campaign titled “No to homosexuality in Moldova”, as they have already 15,000 signatures collected in the entire country. They will lodge the signatures to the Justice Ministry “so that the authorities are aware of the will of the people indignant at this situation.” The CDFM was set up after the events from May 11, when the sexual minorities wanted to march in Chisinau under the slogan “All different, all equal” for the first time. Vasile Filat says the Coalition joins 15 associations, churches and private persons.
