The NGO “Pentru Familie” /For Family/ says that the Anti-discrimination Bill, recently approved by the Government, is a direct threat to the institution of family and public morality, because it could contribute to an increase in the number of homosexual people in Moldova. The noted anti-gay activist Lively Scott, Pentru Familie's guest, told a press conference on Monday that Moldova could see an “upsurge of homosexuality” unless the Moldovan Parliament voted down the Bill. Pentru Familie chairman Vasile Filat stated at the same conference that the Bill would lead to the legalization of gay marriages, child adoptions by LGBT couples and recognition of “homosexual practices” in educational establishments. Vasile Filat says the NGO will undertake all the possible measures to prevent the adoption of the Bill, calling the Government's approval “a betrayal of the nation” committed for the sake of European integration, but to the detriment of the young generations. Lively Scott said such legislative measures led to terrible consequences in the countries where they were adopted. “I can assure you that if this Bill is enacted, all the bad things that happened to the European Union will happen in Moldova as well”, said the activist. “They (the LGBT people) employ the same plan everywhere. First they secure the passage of such laws, then they initiate bills of child adoptions and gay marriages. This Bill is a choice between homosexuality and Christianity. If you say that you are not against homosexuality it means that you are against Christianity, and vice versa”, said Scott. However, the activist says that society should be tolerant toward these persons – they have the right to a sexual life, but without making it public, because this destroys the morals of society. He also claims that the gay rights lobbying in Moldova is done through external efforts at the order of George Soros, who is interested in homosexuals becoming a global power. Similar anti-discrimination bills and laws have been introduced and adopted in all the EU countries, in the US, Canada, Brazil and in many other countries around the globe.
