The Salvgardare Association demands the annulment of authorizations issued by Chisinau local authorities for constructions on plots adjacent to apartment buildings, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Each apartment building was built with an adjacent plot that belongs to the residents, but these plots are let by City Hall. The residents can only watch how constructions are erected and the City Hall tells them everything is legal”, said Salvgardare leader Maia Laguta at a press conference. She warns that if Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca doesn’t annul the decisions, Salvgardare members and apartment owners will do their own justice. Maia Laguta referred to the situation on Alba Iulia Street, where a parking is built in a block’s yard. “The works have begun, trees are being cut”, she said. Petru Gontea, head of the Communal Housing Division, told Info-Prim Neo that the parking is needed because there many cars in that yard and the trees were only cleared of branches that could fall during storms. “The construction of the parking is the Mayor’s initiative and it’s at the first stage. There are people who disagree. Maia Laguta disagrees with everything that is done in Chisinau. The project won’t cost anything for the tenants because it’s funded from the municipal budget”, declared Petru Gontea. Maia Laguta, head of the Salvgardare civic association, is well-known for her protests. In 2009, she organized the protests of pensioners unhappy with the raise of water tariff and public transport fees. In 2011, she ran for Mayor of Chisinau as the candidate of the Moldovan Patriots Party and obtained 0.2% of the votes.
