Next week there will be more clarity on the groups of people that will benefit from pension and benefit raises. There is already a final concept which needs be consulted with Parliament this week before adjustments can be made. This was stated by Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița during a press conference. She is confident that starting October 1 thousands of pensioners will receive good news, IPN reports.
Presenting the Government’s priorities, Natalia Gavrilița stated that, in order to achieve the objective of cleaning state institutions, each ministry needs teams that share the same visions. To date, the Government has fired or accepted the resignation of 30 state secretaries of general secretaries within its Ministries, 30 heads of territorial offices of the State Chancellery, and ten directors of central administrative authorities. In their place, 16 state secretaries, 12 heads of territorial offices and two heads of central administrative authorities have been hired. Further hiring and firing will occur in September when people will return form vacations.
On justice, the Government approved the draft amendments to the Law on the Prosecution Service. In each ministry, work is being done to document abuses related to procurement and the implementation of programs. The prime minister’s supervision body has been sent to verify a controversial 500 million lei announced by the Public Services Agency in May. The transformation of the inspection system has already started, so that businesses would no longer face abuses, and so has the process of “correcting bad decisions taken by the Dodon-Șor coalition”.
On a different subject, Natalia Gavrilița said Moldova is at the beginning of a new wave of coronavirus infections that affects many countries in the region. Last week, decisions were taken to avoid a rapid worsening of the situation.
The Prime Minister also said that the EU will offer Moldova 500 million euros in budget support. In order to receive the money, the Government worked this week to fulfill the conditions. In the fall, more than $236 million from the IMF will enter the state budget. The government is in talks with the Romanian government to resume the grant program of 100 million euros, money that will go partially to buy medical equipment, but most will go to local authorities. The government is preparing to absorb 600 million euros from the EU to get out of the crisis in the next three years.
